About the International Kinesiology College (IKC) and IKC faculty
The International Kinesiology College is the governing body for each and every Touch for Health Association around the world. It's purpose is to maintain the ethics and consistency in the process of teaching Touch for Health.
In addition, the IKC faculty representatives are persons certified by the IKC to present the ITW (Instructor Training Workshop) and educate potential instructors how to teach Touch for Health, as well as record keeping, marketing techniques, listening skills, and much more. The IKC faculty is also responsible for keeping Professional Instructor's education updated, by way of the ITW update.
Steps for Certification of Touch for Health Instructors
1. Successfully complete Touch for Health I-IV.
2. Complete 20 case studies. Bring copies to Proficency Skills Workshop.
(5 Balance records for each level of TFH. Use form in back of Training manuals. Required before taking the Proficiency Skills Workshop or Instructor Training Workshop. Contact instructor before class for instructions.)
3. Complete a 15 hour Proficiency Skills Workshop. This is a two day class that reviews material and techniques from TFH I-IV along with the 42 muscle tests.
4. Take Pre-exam for entrance into the Instructor Training Workshop. Exam is a written (60 multiple choice open book exam) and practical exam that demonstrates proficiency in basic TFH knowledge and techniques including a 42 Five Element balance standing up. Note: the exam and proficiency skills review are also given in conjunction with the Proficiency Skills Workshop.
5. Successfully complete the 60-hour TFH Training Workshop, including class participation, presentations, practice sessions and practical assessment and written exam.
6. File an updated resume with the TFHKA office. (Submit online here)
7. Sign and file an updated IKC Instructor's Agreement with the TFHKA office.
8. To be able to issue IKC credits and NCBTMB and Nursing CE's, the Instructor must be a current member of TFHKA at the Professional Instructor level.
Maintaining Instructor Status
To remain an active instructor, an Instructor must:
1. Maintain a current TFHKA Professional Instructor membership
2. Teach a minium of 5 students each year, or 15 students in 3 years.
3. Take a 15-hour Instructor Proficiency Skills Update within three years of completing the initial Instructor Training Workshop.
Once the Instructor has completed an Instructor Proficiency Skills Update, and has maintained their active status (see above), there are other options and classes that can be used to satisfy the requirement for 15 Instructor Credits to be earned every three years. If an instructor has not been actively teaching then they will need to re-certify with the two-day Proficiency Skills Update. Otherwise, an instructor can earn their 15 Instructor Credits be either re-taking the two-day Proficiency Skills Update or with one or a combination of the following methods:
1. Teaching - minimum of 5 Students plus:
a. Teach 50 Students in a three year period with 10 completing TFH IV = 5 Instructor Credits
b. Teach 100 Students in a three year period with 20 completing TFH IV = 10 Instructor Credits
c. Teach 150 Students in a three year period with 30 completing TFH IV = 15 Instructor Credit
2. Attending TFHKA Annual Conference Sessions:
• Conference Instructor Credits = 1/2 credit per 1 hour attended
3. Speaking at TFHKA Annual Conference:
• Conference Instructor Credits = 3 credits per 1 hour speaking
4. Attending US Faculty-Approved Courses (IKC Tier 3 Credits):
• Class Attendance Instructor Credits = 1 credit per 1 hour attended
